Obviously, working in computers, I'm a computer geek, and have a pretty nice setup at home. I have an AT&T business grade 6 Mbps download/768 kbps upload DSL line with five static IP addresses at home. I run my own web and email server. Behind my own firewall (in addition to the DSL router/firewall provided by AT&T), I have my home network, which is a Windows NT 4.0 style domain controlled by a 64-bit Kubuntu Linux system. This Linux system is also my main PC that I use for day-to-day activities. It's based on a dual-core AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ processor with 4 GB of RAM. Being that Linux/KDE is less of a resource hog than any modern version of Windows, It's smokin' fast! It also has a PCI Express NVidia GeForce 7300GT graphics card. My other internal PC is a Windows XP Pro box, which exists mainly for working from home and some game playing when I have the chance. It is based on a AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor with 1 GB of RAM and a PCI NVidia GeForce 6800GT graphics card. If I told you about my firewall machine, I'd have to kill you, so I won't go there. |
